Customer Quotes about the LabChip GXII platform for vaccines and biologics:“Screen the performance of pharmaceutical excipients. The LabChip GXII is used to monitor the chemical and physical stability of the antigen within complex matrix of excipients, before and after stress.”  Scientist, R&D Formulation Development, Belgium

“LabChip enables us to perform experiments in an afternoon that would have required a month.”
Biogen-Idec, COG 2009

“Finally, the process that we have described reduces both experimentation cost and time while increasing throughput, making possible what–if experiments that, up to now, had been either prohibitively expensive or too complex to perform. This process results in better solutions, decreased development time and increased productivity.”   Vertex, Anal. Biochem.

“Expression screen by magnetic bead purification and Caliper LabChip gives objective and quantifiable results.”   Boehringer Ingelheim, Global Protein Summit, London, 2006

Caliper Life Sciences Launches LabChip XT for Next Generation Sequencing Applications

July 6, 2010 - Leave a Response
Caliper, a leading provider of tools and services for drug discovery and life sciences research, today introduced the LabChip XT, an automated nucleic acid fractionation instrument. The solution removes a key bottleneck in the current workflow for next generation sequencing by replacing the tedious gel isolation and purification steps used for size selection of sheared genomic DNA. The LabChip XT and its integrated software utilize a multi-channel microfluidic chip to quickly process samples independently and without the potential for cross contamination. “The LabChip XT was developed in collaboration with leading sequencing centers and providers of next generation sequencing instrumentation and chemistries,” said Kevin Hrusovsky, President and CEO, Caliper Life Sciences. “We are confident that the LabChip XT, the first product Caliper is introducing to the sequencing market, will improve sample preparation efficiency and downstream data processing—two critical elements for next-gen sequencing. We are collaborating with our newly formed Sequencing Science Advisory Board to demonstrate these sequencing workflow improvements as well as to develop additional technology platforms in this sector.”

Invitation to Caliper Owner’s Group (COG) meeting and open house June 9th & 10th

April 26, 2010 - Leave a Response

Dear Upstate NY LRIG Members,

On behalf of myself and the 400+ employees at Caliper Life Sciences I would like to invite you to attend our Caliper Owner’s Group (COG) meeting and open house.  Last year’s events were a huge success and we had fantastic presentations from over 70 customers.  This year we are expecting presentations from Pfizer, Merck, Novartis, Roche, BMS, Abbott, Amgen, Biogen, Wyeth, Dow, Broad, JGI, FDA, NCI and many others.  We also expect several important life sciences collaborators to potentially present in the genomics application segment such as Illumina, Ion Torrent, Pac Bio, Fluidigm, and Life.

We have an exciting program planned for COG 2010 and look forward to your participation.  This year’s meeting is divided into four parallel application tracks (Biologics/Vaccines, Optical Imaging, Genomics, and Small Molecules) and will include presentations and insights by customers leveraging Caliper’s suite of technologies in relevant application areas.

Biologics/Vaccines
Presentations focused on the use of Caliper’s LabChip GX and automation systems in the production and QC of biologics and vaccines.  Presentations will include perspectives from both development and production, and highlight the application of the GX’s protein and glycan assays.

Optical Imaging
This track is focused on cutting edge methods and applications of Caliper’s optical imaging IVIS technology.  It will include presentations covering stem cell, CNS, oncology, infectious disease research and more.

Genomics
Track will include presentations on the application of the LabChip GX in genomic workflows, with emphasis on next generation sequencing, genotyping, and molecular diagnostics.  The genomics track will also include presentations on Caliper’s recently launched LabChip XT, an advanced solution for nucleic acid fractionation and collection.

Small Molecule Drug Discovery
Presentations will focus on the application of Caliper’s microfluidics platform for compound screening, profiling and mechanism of action studies as well as automated robotic systems for ADME Tox and other discovery applications.

We have expanded this year’s program and will be taking our COG meetings on the road globally for 2010.  We have planned meetings in San Francisco and San Diego as well as Hopkinton, and will announce dates for the international meetings, as they are confirmed.  Please click on the link below for dates and to register.
